Dignity regained: Rehama Jeanette, a youth transformed by professional training
Formerly without prospects for the future, Rehama Jeanette is today an example of resilience and empowerment thanks to the cutting and sewing training provided by the AWCY-RDC. After several months of learning, she now masters making clothes and is gradually developing her income-generating activity.
“Before this training, I had neither job nor hope. Today, I can sew clothes, earn an income and contribute to the needs of my family,” she says with emotion.
Coming from a home facing great insecurity, Rehama says that her family sometimes went entire days without eating. Due to lack of means, his brothers were regularly expelled from school for non-payment of school fees. Thanks to her new know-how, she now contributes to the family expenses and supports the education of her brothers.
Rehama's story demonstrates that vocational training is a powerful lever in the fight against poverty and youth unemployment. By providing practical skills and economic opportunities, AWCY-DRC restores confidence, dignity and hope to vulnerable young people.
Through journeys like that of Rehama Jeanette, AWCY-DRC continues its commitment to the empowerment of young girls and the construction of a more dignified, more inclusive and more prosperous future for the communities of the Democratic Republic of Congo
